Whereas, The Punjab Compulsory Teaching of the Holy Quran (Amendment) Act, 2021 (Act XIV of 2021) binds the teaching of the Holy Quran as a separate compulsory subject for Muslim students in all educational institutions in Punjab, accordingly, Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) revised the Scheme of Studies for “Teaching of Holy Quran Nazra” on 23.06.2021 and included the subject of “Nazra Quran” in Grades I-V as a separate compulsory subject as per following Schedule:
NAZRA QURAN Syllabus for Class I-V as a separate compulsory
As an initial step, all educational institutions (Public Sector / Private Sector / Deni Madaris) in Punjab shall teach Nazra Quran in Grades 1-V as a separate compulsory subject with effect from the forthcoming Academic Session 2021.22.
All educational institutions are required to make necessary arrangements for teaching of Nazra Quran for Grades I-V as per Schedule mentioned above, it is, therefore, requested that the teaching of Nazra Quran for Grades I-V as a separate subject be ensured in all educational institutions (Private Sector Schools) within your jurisdiction and monitor its implementation in true letter and spirit.
Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention here that the schedule for the Teaching of “Translation of Holy Quran” as already mentioned in PCTB’s textbooks of Islamiat for Grades VI-VIII shall be followed as under:
NAZRA QURAN Syllabus for Class VI-VIII as a separate compulsory
Moreover, all educational institutions in Punjab shall adopt the following schedule for the Teaching of “Translation of Holy Quran” for Grades IX, X & XI as under:
NAZRA QURAN Syllabus for Class IX, X & XI I as a separate compulsory
It is again reiterated that all educational institutions (Public Sector / Private Sector / Deni Madaris) in Punjab shall teach Nazra Quran in Grades I-V as a separate compulsory subject with effect from the forthcoming Academic Session 2021-22. Meanwhile, PCTB has initiated the due process to introduce the “Teaching of the Holy Quran” as a separate compulsory subject for all Grades I-XII and it will also be conveyed as soon as possible.
