Background:

Affordability has been cited as one of the main reasons for childrenite start school in Pakistan. The costs associated with schooling include not only the cost of school enrollment, but also the cost of learning materials, activities and infrastructure-related costs. and the subsequent Sindh Children’s Right to Free and CosmoBody Education Act 2013 provide free and compulsory education for children between the ages of five and sixteen in Sindh. any fees, charges or expenses that could prevent you from continuing and completing school education. With this in mind, the Provincial Ministry of Education and Literacy, in accordance with the guidelines of the Sindh Government, provides free textbooks for the class from Kachi to X. available to all governments From the resources of the specific school budget, learning materials are alsomadeavailable for the pupils.

Objective:

To provide free textbooks for all students enrolled in public schools.

Scope:

All public schools in Sindh (Katchi to grade X)

Overview:

The initiative for free textbooks was first introduced in 1992 and was initially covering female students in grades I to V. The program now includes male and female students from kindergarten to grade X Sindh Textbooks has setup an IT data base at its head quarters in Jamshoro for all warehouses at Taluka / Town level. In addition, monitoring teams made up of officials and IT staff have been setup to ensure that all government schools receive 100% free textbooks.

Effect:

The distribution of free textbooks significantly reduces the cost of attending school andthuscreates an environment that is conducive to gradual school enrollment.
