Southern California’s rugged mountains have proved to be challenging terrain for hikers. As two individuals have gone missing in recent days. One of them is British actor Julian Sands.People know him for his roles in films such as “A Room with a View,” “Warlock,” and “Leaving Las Vegas.” Sands, who currently resides in North Hollywood, failed to return from a hike in the Mt. Baldy area last Friday evening, and his family reported him missing.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) has been searching for Sands and another hiker, Bob Gregory of Hawthorne. Who was reported missing by his family on Monday afternoon? The search for Gregory is taking place in the Crystal Lake area of the San Gabriel Mountains. The efforts have been hindered by severe weather on the mountain, which has limited air resources.
“His wife did report him missing,” said Gloria Huerta with SBCSD. “From what I understand, he left sometime that day for a hike and when he did not return, his family reported him missing.” The conditions on the mountain have been too dangerous for ground search teams. And even experienced hikers are getting into trouble so the authorities have recommended that people stay away from that area. The search for the missing hikers is ongoing, and their families are understandably distraught with fear that they may have hurt themselves. The police are tracing the hiker’s cell phone.
